About This Online Community

This private network has been created for members of The Sedona Wedding Professionals Association (SWPA). The intent is to help us build community, make decisions, share news and information, ask questions, offer advice, pool resources, sell, trade, or give things away, and generally get to know one another better. It is administered by David Sunfellow, the founder and current president of the SWPA.

Questions & Answers:

1. Are there rules? And if so, what are they?

The basics: Be nice. Listen. Help build an environment in which everyone feels welcomed, heard, respected.

2. Is this network ONLY for members of the SWPA?

Yes.

3. Can the messages I post to one member of the network be read by all the other members?

If you post a "Chatter" comment, yes, everyone who visits the page on which you posted your comment will be able to read your message. And whatever you post in a blog or forum will also be available for everyone to read (so be careful). If you post a comment by accident, there is a red x that you can push which will delete your comment. If you wish to send another member a private message, simply select the "Send a Message" link that appears below the member profile photo (or send them a message the old fashioned way, via email).

4. Speaking of profile photos, why do grey shadow men sometimes show up where the face of one of our members should be?

Whenever you see a grey shadow man that means the person in question has been abducted by aliens (just kidding). It actually means someone has not yet posted a photo of themselves. And since grey men are very boring to look at, I'm hoping everyone will take the time to post of photo of themselves. You do this by selecting the "Change My Profile Photo" on your personal home page.

5. Still have questions?

Drop David Sunfellow a line sunfellow@sunfellow.com or give him a call (282-6120).

• 11/13/09 - David decided (with input from Susan and Donna) to continue running SWPA's ad on Gateway To Sedona. Victoria (the owner of Gateway To Sedona) allowed us to continue our current ad, at a reduced price -- $600.00 for 6 months. David decided on six months, rather than a year, so the permanent SWPA Team could revisit this issue when they have been voted in and begin looking at where we can get the most bang for SWPA's advertising bucks. Victoria estimated that SWPA's ad on Gateway to Sedona generated about 1487 click-throughs this past year, which is outstanding. Our new stats page backs up this estimate. Members are encouraged to keep an eye on the leads that are produced via our automated form and watch to see how many of these leads find us through Gateway To Sedona.
• 11/11/09 - Beginning to go over resurrected website with a fine-toothed comb to be sure member info (and other content) is current and appropriate.
• 11/10/09 - New stats engine up and running for resurrected website.
• 11/09/09 - Resurrected website back online.
• 11/04/09 - SWPA all members meeting now officially planned for January 27, 2009 at TLQ from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This is the big meeting where the Transition Team will present what we've been up to and the membership, as a whole, will decide the future direction of SWPA
• 11/04/09 - Transition Team reviewed resurrected website, made final plans to review content and launch
• Jill and Marian are working on finding a time and place in mid to late January when everyone in SWPA can join together to discuss what the Transition Team has done and vote in a new Team.
• Donna is continuing to work with Brian to get our old website put back together. Brian is creating a special browser-based interface for the website that will allow us to make global changes to the site without using an html editor or running the risk of someone accidentally infecting the site with malicious codes.
• 10/14/09 - Susan is working on a rewrite of the bylaws (making them easier to read and understand). Since it has been taking longer to work our way through the bylaws than expected, Susan and David will work on them together first, then get Laura's input, then bring them back to the Transition Team for final tweaks.
• 09/30/09 - Continuing to work our way through the bylaws. Our meetings have been taking place at the Radisson, thanks to Marian who is the event planner for the Radisson. David, Donna, Susan, and Laura were able to attend the most recent meeting; Jill, Marian, and Maria all played hooky; Pamela dropped out a couple meetings ago.
• 09/30/09 - Database for resurrected website being installed and tested now.
• 09/23/09 - Transition Teams gets through "Article 1: Name & Location" and "Article 2: Objectives" of bylaws. Currently working on "Article 3: Membership". Susan and Laura doing background research on how to format our bylaws as efficiently as possible.
• 09/23/09 - Setting up previous website on new server
• 09/18/09 - Transition Team begins process of returning to old website
• 09/17/09 - SWPA membership votes 23 to 3 to return to our old website.
• 09/16/09 - Transition Team begins work on revising SWPA by-laws.
• 09/13/09 - David announces creation of Transition Team, launches vote on whether or not to bring back previous website

Misc. Wedding News

Here's a blast from the past. Sandy Ezrine, the original owner of Weddings In Sedona, staged one of the most unusual weddings ever. Sandy Ezrine was the minister, Bob Coates was the photographer, David Sunfellow was the videographer, and the bride and groom, well, they were a couple of dogs. Literally.
